Conveyor belt rollers, which are one of the core components of belt conveyors, have different types according to their respective roles and functions. The following issues are often easily ignored:
1. Can rollers be used as tensioners?
Roller support is one of the widely used belt support methods for belt conveyors. It can effectively reduce the frictional resistance during transportation, and is more suitable for long-distance or large-load transportation occasions. However, please do not use the rollers (supporting rollers) that support the belt for various types of belt tensioning, even if the contact angle is not so large, the tension generated is likely to cause fatal injury to the roller.
2. Is the idler a common unpowered roller?
The unpowered roller runs in a passive state. Only when the goods pass by, the roller rotates, which is of low intensity. As far as the rollers are concerned, the belt is the cargo and there is an uninterrupted running state between them. At this time, the static electricity problem is often ignored, and proper measures must be taken in the design of the idler to remove a large amount of static electricity caused by the high-speed friction between the roller and the belt. (The same applies to the bottom belt friction conveyor)
3. How to reduce the running noise of the idler?
The noise originates from the vibration of the roller during high-speed operation. Therefore, firstly ensure that the connection between the roller and the frame is not "loose". In this respect, the performance of the internal thread installation method will be significantly better than the spring-loaded type. Of course, other measures can also be used to eliminate the gap between the shaft core and the mounting hole of the rack after the latter installation. 4. How to make the driving roller "do more with less"
Whenever possible, choose a large diameter drive roller, at which point you will find that the belt conveyor becomes particularly "powerful". In addition, you can also apply polyurethane (or rubber) treatment to the outer surface of the driving roller to increase the friction and thus improve the driving ability. However, it is not recommended to perform knurling, which is indeed a means to increase friction, but it will cause damage to the belt, accelerate belt damage, and shorten the life of the belt.
5. What are the simple and economic correction designs?
Correction (also called "adjustment") is a problem that all belt conveyors have to face, especially when two-way conveyance is required. It is a systems engineering and requires a special correction mechanism design. When there is no special application such as side feeding with large axial external force, it is recommended to use a drum design, that is, the two ends of the roller are processed into a certain taper, so that it has a certain self-correction function.
6. The high-speed belt roller should be adjusted by dynamic and static balance.
Due to the uneven internal structure of the raw materials and the shape and position errors caused by processing, in fact, when the roller is running, the center of mass of the rotating body and the center of rotation are not completely coincident, which is not an equilibrium state. At high speed, it will cause strong vibration of the roller and the body, accelerate the wear of the bearing, shorten the life of the machine, and cause destructive accidents in severe cases. 7. Diameter selection of head and tail rollers.
When the belt conveyor adopts the middle drive instead of the end drive, it is not recommended to choose a large diameter for the head and tail rollers. It can improve the driving capacity much less than the driving rollers with large diameters, and it will also increase the The connection gap is likely to cause jams.
